How to Become a
Communicant Member
Of Grace Lutheran Church

We’re glad happy to answer any questions you may have about Grace.  Becoming a active member of any congregation is an important step.  Be sure to worship with us as you move in the direction of connecting with God’s people here at Grace. Please be sure to speak with pastor and set up a time to visit.

If you are a member of a Missouri Synod Congregation, you may transfer your membership to us. Please fill out the request form below*, or speak with pastor.  The process for transferring involves you notifying your previous congregation of your intent to join Grace.  They will then transfer your membership along with any records they may have.

If you are a Lutheran of another Synod, Pastor Dummer will discuss with you the doctrinal differences we have.  Upon finalizing your decision, you will then contact your previous congregation requesting a release from your membership in order to join Grace.

If you have not been confirmed in a Lutheran, Pastor Dummer will be happy to visit with your about our congregation.  You will be invited to join in our next Adult Information Class.  If, after attending this class, you  desire communicant membership, you will be received through Adult confirmation..

Baptism: We do not baptize people Lutheran, but Christian. We accept the baptism of all Christian churches that baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and do not re-baptize.  Baptism is not an end in itself.  It is the beginning of a relationship that God has established as He calls you out of sin and death to live as a forgiven child of God.  In baptism a relationship begins, not only with God, but with fellow Christians.  Therefore we expect families bringing their children to baptism will also be active in the worship life of Grace.  God continues to nourish what he began in baptism as we continue together in His Word and Sacraments.  If you have not been baptized, we will be happy to schedule baptism at your convenience.

If you are not ready to join our parish, we would still be happy for you to worship with us.  Please let us know how we may serve you and your family.

*Construction of a response form to submit is still under construction.  Please be patient and as we are in the process of developing the form.  In the mean time please call the church office and 414-762-8990.  Thank you.
